I Entertainment president Danny Ochoa vowed that he would be back in the Valley to put on a show after his original one fell through back in November of 2011. Ochoa was a man of his word as he makes a return to Pharr on June 8th as I Entertainment presents “Pure Pride II”. “We were set and ready to go back in November. However, one of the opponents did not pass his brain scan just days before the event and didn’t have enough time to find an opponent,” said Ochoa. “Also, we didn’t want to deprive the fans so we decided to reschedule. But like I said before, we will be back and here we are. We are excited about this show and have some excellent fights set for June 8th.”
In the main event, Dominic Guinn will face Stacy Frazier in a heavyweight bout and Ochoa said he is excited about getting Guinn on the card due to his impressive resume.
“Dominic has faced some stiff competition in his boxing career,” said Ochoa. “He knocked out Michael Grant and was in a tough fight against James Toney. I feel the boxing fans will really enjoy watching Dominic fight.”
Also headlining the show are Houston natives Regis Prograis and Juan Copado. Prograis was a 2011 Southeast Texas Champion and Ochoa feels he is world champion material.
On a local level, Edinburg’s Martin Gonzalez and Pharr natives Mario Amador and Emanuel Mendez will appear on the undercard.
Besides the eight fights scheduled for next Friday, Ochoa has a special treat lined up for that night.
“We are bringing down former world champion Rocky Juarez on that night,” said Ochoa. “Rocky will be on hand to make a special announcement that night and will also sign autographs for the fans. We are excited about having him here and this is just a sign of things to come for the near future with I Entertainment.”
Besides the live boxing that night, “The Groovies” will be performing prior to the fights.
