Unbeaten lightweight Jesus “Chuy” Gutierrez (11-0, 3 KOs) won an eight round majority decision over Moris Rodriguez (5-3-1, 3 KOs) on Friday night in the main event at Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall in Las Vegas. This was a step up for both fighters and Gutierrez edged out the win in a great toe to toe eight round battle.
The bout was moved to up to main event status when headliner Rashad Ganaway tested positive for a banned substance and wasn’t cleared by the NSAC to fight Victor “El Nino” Castro for the vacant WBC USNBC lightweight belt.

In the six round co-feature, lightweight Leon Spinks III, grandson of former heavyweight champion Leon Spinks, suffered his first pro defeat as he tasted the canvas on two separate occasions. Wilbert Lopez (3-2, 1 KO) won a six round majority decision, dropping Spinks record to 7-1-1, 3 KOs.

In four rounders, Australian super welterweight Wes Capper (4-0, 3KOs) showed that his move to the U.S. to fight was an excellent idea as he stopped previously undefeated RaShawn McCain (2-1), junior middleweights JJ Wallos and Enrique Montes battled to a draw, light flyweight Yosigey Ramirez outpointed Mario Gaxiola, flyweight Sergio Lopez won a majority decision against Santos Vasquez.

The card was presented by Pochiro Promotions.
