The 2012 Presidential election has come and gone with the inevitable comparisons to pugilism fresh on the pages of countless magazines, newspapers, blogs, Tweets and Facebook pages. Yet, South Floridians enjoy the luxury of dispensing with literary metaphors in favor of real boxing thanks to the “campaign” of local promotional powerhouse Acquinity Sports.

Acquinity Sports blasts into the BB&T Center in Sunrise on Friday, November 30th with a one-of-a-kind boxing and music spectacle titled “Beatdown 2012.” Local hip-hop legend and Grammy-nominated performer Flo Rida will delight fans in the 17,000-seat venue flanked by a veritable Murderers’ Row of young rap talent including DMX, Fat Joe, Fabolous, Travis Porter and Waka Flocka

Acquinity Sports boxing promoter Henry Rivalta promises: “additional surprises,” including other “top-tier” artists to be named shortly. Acquinity President Gary Jonas joined Rivalta, stating: “We are very pleased to bring boxing and music at its best to South Florida. This will be an electrifying evening not to be forgotten. We hope boxing fans will appreciate evenly-matched fights and unmatched artists at their peak all in one night, under one roof.”

The boxing promises to be top-tier as well with a scheduled light welterweight championship bout between undefeated former two-time world champion Joan “Little Tyson” Guzman (33-0-1, 20 KOs) and newly-crowned IBO champion Khabib “The Hawk” Allakhverdiev (17-0, 8 KOs) of Russia.

Guzman, the 36-year old Dominican seeking redemption in a furious race back towards a title shot faces a stiff test in the southpaw Russian. Allakhverdiev’s last three wins include a 6th-round technical decision victory over former undisputed lightweight world champion Nate Campbell last September. His most recent performance earned him a 4th round knockout of previous IBO beltholder Kaizer Mabuza in June.

Pursuit TV will broadcast the November extravaganza as well as next-year’s full Acquinity schedule, highlighting a rising stable of world-ranked talent with names like Paredes, Marrero, Payano, Savigne, Collado, Thomas and Dolton to name a few.

Tickets go on sale soon and will go quickly. Doors open at 4:00 PM, first bell at 4:30. The Flo Rida performance starts at 10:00 PM.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
