Ex-WBC bantam and feather champ Hozumi Hasegawa (33-4, 15 KOs), 125, made short work of Mexican champ Genaro Camargo (42-16, 34 KOs), 125, blasting him out at 2:32 of the opening session beneath the WBC world title doubleheader on Monday in Tokyo, Japan.
Having been dethroned by Jhonny Gonzalez via fourth round stoppage in April 2011, Hasegawa scored four victories with three within the distance since. Hasegawa tonight displayed a fine opneing attack and quickly dropped Camargo, still nervous and stiff, with a long southpaw left. The Mexican barely regained his feet, and Hasegawa furiously swarmed over the fading opponent. He scored with a triple left hook, and Camargo fought back with a left hook. Then, Hasegawa’s left exploded with Camargo badly falling face first unconscious. The ref declared a halt then and there.
