Hatton the promoter!

By Craig Watt

In the week when it was finally confirmed that Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton would finally meet Manny Pacquaio in Las Vegas in May, it was also confirmed that the current IBO Jr-welterweight champion had inked some of the UK’s best rising boxing talent in his role as boxing promoter. At a press conference in Manchester on Thursday he confirmed the signature to Hatton Promotions of a number of rising boxing talents. These included twenty year old rising super-bantamweight prospect Scott Quigg who is 12-0 in the pro ranks, twenty one year old Jr-middleweight Danny Butler (15-1), unbeaten super-bantamweight nineteen year old Rhys Roberts (6-0) and 2008 Beijing representative Joe Murray at bantamweight, who won a bronze medal at the 2007 world amateur championships. Hatton Promotions will be showcasing some of these fighters in Bristol on March 14th at the Marriot Hotel and in Altringham, Manchester on March 28th.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
