The new and improved Shawn Hawk (22-1-1, 17 KOs) returned to the ring Thursday evening at the Coeur d’Alene Casino in Worley, Idaho sporting a new physique and dedication taking taking a ten round split decision over Otis “Triple OG” Griffin (23-9-2, 9 KOs) in the main event. Hawk who formerly fought at the Cruiserweight limit of 200 lbs tipped the scale at 173 looking fit and trim. The fight with Griffin was filled with big voids in action, however, and Hawk’s split decision victory was greeted with displeasure from the sellout crowd. Hawk displayed his piston like jab throughout, but chose to fight strategically rather then with the brawling, two-fisted style which has made him a Northwest favorite.
In other action, heavyweight Ija Flappingeagle won a majority decision over Freddie Miller.
Heavyweight Billy Turner needed just one round to dispatch Leo Bercier, dropping him twice along the way.
Thomas Turner won a split decision over Carey Dupreein a cruiserweight affair.
Decee Simpson survived two first round knock downs to pull out a draw against Tyrone Lewis in a light heavy match up.
