Hendo edges Shogun in epic FOTY candidate at UFC 139

In what might go down as one of the best fights in mixed martial arts history, Dan “Hendo” Henderson won a narrow unanimous decision over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the main event of UFC 139, held at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. All three judges scored it 48-47 for Henderson, who had Rua hurt numerous times in the first three rounds. In the fourth and fifth rounds, Rua, battered and bloody, came back strong, wobbling Henderson and scoring multiple takedowns.

In the co-main, Wanderlai Silva stopped former Strikeforce champ Chung Le at 4:49 of round two. Urijah Faber submitted Brian Bowles with a guillotine choke at 1:47 of round two; Martin Kampmann won a split decision over Ricky Story, scores of 30-27, 29-28 and 28-29; and Stephan Bonnar outclassed Kyle Kingsbury for the shutout decision, scores of 30-27 twice and 30-25. For more prelim results, click here
