A clash between unbeaten junior middleweights Alberto Herrera (7-0-1, 5 KOs) and Sammy Gonzalez (7-0-1, 3 KOs) ended to a six round draw on Saturday night at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California. It was a toe-to-toe from start to finish. In the third round Herrera apparently injured his left hand and he seemed to have taken refuge in the blue corner and fought most of the fight from there. Gonzalez through vicious punches and rocked Herrera in the fourth and fifth rounds but Herrera battled back never giving an inch. The crowd were on their feet from start to finish.
In the co-feature, unbeaten super bantamweight Efrain Esquivias (9-0, 5 KOs), trained by Freddie Roach, won a hard fought six round unanimous decision over Jonathan Alcantara (4-3-1). Esquivias, a recent signee of Thompson Boxing Promotions, is a former National Golden Gloves champion.
The card was presented by Thompson Boxing Promotions.
