Texas heavyweight champion Eugene Hill raised his record to 16-0 (14 KOs) by knocking out Clinton Boldridge (8-13-1 (6 KOs) in the third round at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Hill scored a knockdown at the end of the second round, and two more in the third. Super featherweights Crystal Delgado, 8-0(1 KO), and Michelle Nielsen, 8-4-1 (2 KOs), engaged in a six-round slugfest that ignited the near-capacity crowd. Both women fought in the phone booth and threw punches nonstop throughout. Delgado, a southpaw, scored a knockdown in the third round with straight left and was rewarded with a unanimous decision at the end. Sharp-shooting light heavyweight Alfonso Lopez, 11-0 (9 KOs) looked impressive in stopping James Johnson, 23-32 (13 KOs), in the fifth round. Junior middleweight Omar Henry, 2-0 (2 KOs), clobbered Justin Davis, 1-6 (1 KO), into submission in just 54 seconds. Heavyweight Willie Edwards stopped Joey Crawford, 0-1, in three rounds. Theo Kruger and Maurenzo Smith fought to a six round draw in a heavyweight bout. the event was staged by Rock Solid Promotions.
