Hirales new WBO champion Photos: Rafael Soto Ramón Garcia Hirales dethroned previously unbeaten WBO interim mini-flyweight champion Johnriel Casimero on Saturday night, taking a twelve round split decision at the Polideportivo Centenario in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. Hirales came from behind to narrowly win on two cards. Scores were 115-113 for Casimero, and 115-113, 115-113 in favor of Garcia. Hirales moves to 14-1-1, 8 KOs, while Casimero falls to 14-1, 8 KOs. In an IBF super flyweight eliminator, Rodrigo Guerrero (14-2-1, 9 KOs) outpointed Federico Catubay (25-17-3, 13 KOs) to earn a shot at the winner of next week’s Simphiwe Nongqayi vs Alberto Rosas clash. Scores were 116-112, 115-113, 117-111. Also, unbeaten Omar “Businessman” Chavez disposed of Miguel Angel Galindo with a second knockout. Time was 1:09. Chavez is now 23-0-1, 16 KOs.
