At the official weigh-in Aschersleben on Thursday afternoon there was a foretaste of the upcoming heavyweight fight on Friday. The opponent of Timo Hoffmann, Harry Duiven Jr. shoved the “German Oak” when posing in front of the photographers completely across the room. However, security guards intervened at once to subdue the worked up Dutchman. Hoffmann was completely surprised about the situation was “This is something I haven’t ever experienced,” he said. Big talk is common, but physical violence is new to me…now the atmosphere for the fight has heated up considerably.”

At 259.5, Hoffmann was about 15 pounds heavier than his opponent.

Female world champion Ramona Kuehne weighed 129.7 pounds and her challenger Maribel Santana scaled in at 129.7. Kuehne and Santana meet Friday for the WIBF, WBO and WBF super featherweight championships on the SES Boxing card at the Aschersleben State Garden Show.

The open-air fight will be televised live in Germany on Sport 1 at 22:00. Forecast: Sunny and warm.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
