Heavyweight Timo Hoffmann (39-7-1, 23 KOs) continues his comeback on October 23 against Alexander Petkovic (39-4-3, 20 KOs) at the Erdgas Arena in Riesa, Germany. The bout will be for the vacant WBO European heavyweight title, with Hoffmann’s objective being to achieve a top ranking in the WBO and a shot at current WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko.

At Monday’s press conference, the 6’7 ‘German Oak’ stated, “After Riesa, I want to challenge Wladimir Klitschko. I will throw down the gauntlet in the ring. After my last fight against Henry Duiven Jr., I know that my mission isn’t yet accomplished. I have a lot of plans and will now concentrate on the big fights.”

Petkovic, however, has other ideas. “Many have said I am dead, but I’ll prove that I am very much alive in the boxing ring. I will use this chance to show once again what I can do.”

Hoffmann stated point blank, “My goal is a fight against Klitschko, and the European championship fight against Petkovic is a decisive step in this direction.”

In the co-feature, unbeaten female middleweight star Christina Hammer (7-0, 6 KOs) fights for the WBO championship Teresa Perozzi (7-3-1, 1 KO).

The card is promoted by SES Boxing.
