Unbeaten Irish-born, Australian-based middleweight Dennis “Hurricane” Hogan (17-0, 6 KOs) outscored Leroy Brown (11-6-1) over ten rounds to retain the Australian 160lb crown at the Irish Club in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia on Sunday. Scores were 97-93, 98-92, 98-92. Hogan has been based in Australia since 2011 and is a stablemate and regular sparring partner of WBA #3 middleweight Jarrod Fletcher. Hogan has issued a challenge to Ireland’s former world middleweight challenger Mathew Macklin and seems destined for international recognition.
In other action super middleweight Faris Chevalier (5-1, 3 KO’s) clearly outpointed Tim Kanofski (12-8, 1 KO) over eight rounds to capture the Queensland state 168 pound title. Scores 80-72, 80-72, 80-71.
Also cruiserweight Brett Peters (7-1, 6 KO’s) stopped Josh Robinson in round three of a scheduled six round bout. Peters was dropped in round one but at 1.10 of round three referee Phil Austin crowned Peters after Robertson had visited the canvas and could not continue.
Hard punching featherweight Jarrett Owen (4-2-1, 2 KO’s) stopped Raheem Kadayree (0-3) in round one of scheduled six round contest. Referee Phil Austin crowned Owen at 1.12.
Unbeaten super middleweight Dean Mikelj(10-0,8KO’s) stopped Ehsan Shakeri (0-1) in round two of a scheduled six. Referee Paul Tapley called it off at 1.11.
