On Saturday afternoon in Kennesaw GA, Delgado Boxing Promotions presented “The Future Series 5″. Aside from promoting professional boxing in the southeast, Delgado Boxing also features amateur boxing in different venues throughout the greater Atlanta area. On the card was Evan Holyfield son of Evander as he looks to follow in his father’s footsteps. Naturally, Evander was expected to be in attendance, but the surprise came when he walked into the venue with former nemesis, now friend Mike Tyson.
Said Paul Delgado, owner of Delgado Boxing Promotions, of the surprise visit, “We knew Evander and Mike were coming, but we promised them that we wouldn’t release the news to the world. The goal of them being together was to support Evander’s son and not a publicity opportunity. I respect both of them greatly and kept it quiet. It was great to have them enjoy the fights.”
The event was held at The School of Hardknox gym in Kennesaw GA, about 20 minutes north of Atlanta.
Coincidentally, Tyson was in town to perform his “Undisputed Truth” one man show at the Fox Theater later in the evening.
Evan Holyfield won his amateur boxing debut after being encouraged mostly by “Iron” Mike.
