Holyfield, Botha talk

Former world heavyweight champion Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield and Frans “The White Buffalo” Botha faced off at a final press conference held today at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. “All I have thought about since 1999 was becoming the unified heavyweight champion again,” said Holyfield. “I am thankful to Frank Luca [of Crown Boxing] for giving this opportunity to once again to become a champion. I am in great shape and looking forward to fight on April 10.”

“I am very proud to be fighting a legend like Evander Holyfield, who has fought and defeated the best heavyweights in the world,” said Botha. “We should have fought ten years ago but for some reason it just didn’t happen. But now I am going to do everything I can to retire him permanently.”

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
