Hubeaux retains WBC Youth title; Jah wins EBU title

Belgian Herve “HH” Hubeaux retained last night in Brussels his WBC Youth heavyweight title with a wide unanimous decision over Hungarian Tibor Balogh. It was a workmanlike performance by the local Hubeaux with his new trainer Saber Gasmi in the corner. Hubeaux’s technique and boxing skills seemed to have improved under Gasmi but he still lacks a lot of stamina as he faded from round 6 on and had to give away the final round. It was scored 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92.

In the co-main even Sanae Jah won the EBU female light-flyweight title with an unanimous decision against Romanian Corina Carlescu. The visitor was the better boxer but was overwhelmed by the untidy local Jah who deserved the win.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
