Hughie Fury goes to 12-0 with win over David Gegeshidze; Haskins beats Booth

Update: Father/trainer Peter Fury says Hughie received three stitches and is now out for 28 days. He will fight next on December 14th in Belgium for a WBC belt.

Unbeaten and much hyped heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (12-0, 7 KOs) scored a fourth round TKO over journeyman David Gegeshidze (10-5-1, 2 KOs) on Friday night at the City Academy Sports Centre in Bristol, England. Fury was cut over the left eye in round three but got a referee’s stoppage after punishing the overmatched Gegeshidze in the fourth round. Time was 2:14. The 19-year-old, 6’6 cousin of Tyson Fury is on the fast track, already having twelve bouts this year, with bouts scheduled for the next two weeks also (cut permitting).

In the main event, British bantamweight champion Lee Haskins (28-3, 12 KOs) scored a hard-fought twelve round unanimous decision over Jason Booth (37-12, 15 KOs) to retain his belt. Scores were 118-111, 117-112, 118-111.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
