In a nationally televised bout, IBF #9 light welterweight Patomsuk Pathompothong (23-1-1) stopped Ruben Kennedy (6-7) in the eleventh round at Mae Hong Son, Thailand on Friday. The Australian came to fight and was effective in connecting with solid left hooks and in round four dropped Pathompothong. In round eight Pathompothong had Kennedy in trouble but the tough Aussie survived to hear the bell. At 1.11 of round eleven the referee crowned Pathompothong after he dropped Kennedy with a power body shot.

Leading IBF Asian Promoter Jimmy Chaichotchuang said “Boxing fans were happy to see a very exciting fight between Patomsuk and the Australian Ruben Kennedy that was televised on channel seven throughout Thailand. Both boxers showed good boxing skills but Patomsuk was the stronger man. He can win the world title in 2014.”

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
