Idrissi wins BBU title

By Alex Hermann

Saturday night in Hvidovre, Denmark, Fadia Idrissi (3-1-1) won the vacant BBU female flyweight title with a decision over Elina Jurkane (0-2-1). Jurkane was floored in the opening round, but Idrissi couldn’t end the fight, and after the six scheduled rounds Jurkane was still on her feet. The judges scored it 60-53 and 59-54 (twice) for Idrissi.

Three Danish fighters had their pro debuts at the small hall show in Hvidovre. In super middleweight, Timmy Kimose (1-0), the son of the promotor Johan Kimose, stopped Dzianis Makar (3-10-1) in two, while Lasse Pedersen (1-0) stopped Fiodar Pugachou (4-4, 4 KO) in round three in a cruiserweight fight. Also Mats Groetner (1-0) outpointed Artsem Hurbo (4-12-1) over four rounds at super middle, while middleweight Ole Carlsen (2-0) scored a majority win against Uladzislau Mahdanau (1-3).

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
