Injured Verdejo off Dec 14 card in Puerto Rico

A lesion on the left hand of unbeaten Puerto Rican prospect Felix Verdejo will prevent “El Diamante” from seeing action on the December 14 at the Coliseum Roger L. Mendoza in Caguas, Puerto Rico. “I very much regret not being able to fight on December 14,” said Verdejo. “I was very excited to fight in front of my people, but can’t run the risk of aggravating the injury on my left hand. We made this difficult decision to ensure that the injury will heal completely and I’ll be able to continue my career 100% healthy.”

Verdejo, (9-0, 6 KOs) suffered the injury during his victory on November 23 against Petchsamuthr Duanaaymukdahan on the Pacquiao-Rios undercard in Macau, China. He is expected to return to the ring on January 25 on a Top Rank card taking place in the Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
