International boxing festival in UK

Cardiff, Wales will be the site of the WBC Night of Champions to be held July 29-31. The event is where the global boxing community unites to acknowledge lifetime achievements, unsung heroes, and boxing’s contribution to developing youth and the wider community. “The world of boxing is delighted to be returning to one of the great homes of our sport, to Wales, a country from which so many great champions and traditions have been nurtured,” WBC President Jose Sulaiman said. “Celebrating the WBC’s ‘Night of Champions’ in Cardiff will be something we will all remember for years to come.“

Amongst the more than 100 list of former and current world champions speculated to attend are current heavyweight champions of the world David Haye and Vitali & Wladimir Klitschko. Those three names alone assembled together should make for very interesting theatre.

The 3-day event will feature several activities highlighted by a Gala Awards Dinner, an open-top bus ride by the champions around Cardiff, opportunities for fans to meet many of their boxing heroes on the streets of Cardiff, and visits by champions to youth and community projects.
