Today in Caguas Puerto Rico Juan Manuel Lopez had his last media day in route to his October 10 world title defense in New York. “I had a real good training camp for this fight and I’m ready to go,” said Lopez. They also had the last pre weigh-in and Lopez came in at 126 3/4 pounds where as the limit was 128.1 according to the Puerto Rican Boxing Commission. “I had no doubt that my weight was good, it’s getting more difficult to make 122, but I know I can do it for a one or two more fights,” said Lopez.
About his opponent he said: “I expect a long tough fight from Mtagwa. He looks like a very durable guy and throws a lot of punches.”
About fighting in New York: “I’m very excited, it’s a big opportunity for me and my dream is to fight in the big arena and this is the first step towards the goal.”
