Promoter Bob Duffy of Ring Promotions has advised FightNews that Long Island, NY boxer Tommy “The Razor” Rainone has injured his ankle during training and will be unable to fight on Saturday, July 18 at the Plattdeutsche Park Restaurant. The new main event will showcase undefeated prospect Tor Hamer (6-0, 5 KOs) battling Marcus Dickerson (4-1-1, 2 KOs). Lou DiBella is the promoter of Hamer. Hamer was 38-1 as an amateur winning the 2008 National Golden Gloves as a super heavyweight. “It’s Hamer time,” said Duffy. “The kid is a multi-talented fighter, a real crowd-pleaser. Plus he is a good role model, a real gentleman inside and outside of the ring, and a pleasure to work with!”
In the co-main event, exciting undefeated prospect Chris Algieri (7-0, 4 KOs) goes toe-to-toe with Jose Guzman (5-4-1) in a six-round lightweight contest.
The nine-bout fight card will be held outdoors but will be moved indoors if it rains. Barbecued food and cigars are available for purchase, and a live band will perform following the main event. This will be Duffy’s fifth fight card at Plattdeutsche. His last event on May 8, 2009 was a sellout and tickets for Saturday’s event are going fast.
The doors open at 3pm and the first bout begins at 4pm. Tickets are $50 (ringside) or $30 and can be purchased by calling Plattduetsche Park Restaurant at 516-354-3131 or by visiting www.ringpromotions.com. Plattduetsche Park Restaurant is conveniently located at 1132 Hempstead Turnpike, just ½ mile east of Belmont Racetrack.
