Tyson Fury’s official Team-Fury website has announced the comeback foe Fury will face in London on February 15th. Fury, inactive since his April 2013 up from the floor stoppage win over Steve Cunningham, will face Argentine slugger Gonzalo Omar Basile. Basile has a 61-8 record with 28 KOs and he has boxed almost his entire career at home. The 39-year-old has been stopped seven times, usually whenever he has stepped up in class. Alexander Dimitrenko and Artur Szpilka both stopped Basile early, while the 6’6″ fighter known as “El Paton” has also been halted by Mauro Ordiales (in Basile’s debut), Cesar Acevedo (twice), Marcelo Nascimento and, most recently in 2012, Luis Juarez.
Basile is nevertheless a decent enough return foe for what may be a rusty Fury. Currently 21-0, 15 KOs and looking at a summer return with reigning European heavyweight champ Dereck Chisora (who will face a TBA on the Feb 15th card), Fury might want to get a few rounds in against Basile next month. The Argentine can bang some though and we all know that anything can happen when two big men collide. And Basile has been active, winning his last six fights and boxing four times last year.
