The famous Jacob boxing family from France can add yet another title to the clan’s collection of championship belts. Young Romain Jacob (21-0, 7 KOs) won the European jr lightweight title yesterday in his hometown of Calais with a 12 round split decision victory over touted Italian Devis Boschiero (34-2-1, 16 KOs). The 25-year-old WBO #15 rated Jacob fought an all-out war with WBA #3, IBF# 3 Boschiero, egged on by the crowd and by his dad, former world champion Thierry Jacob. Jacob prevailed on the judges’ cards by a tally of 115-113, 115-114, 113-115 to the delight of the French boxing fans who firmly believe that the popular youngster will follow the footsteps of his famous Dad. The Jacob boxing dynasty goes back to grandfather Jacques Jacob in the early 60′s. The Jacob brothers and cousins followed the elder Jacob’s legacy and brought countless European title belts to France, not counting the world title belt held by Thierry Jacob.
