NABA-US Heavyweight champion Jason “Ironman” Bergman (23-10, 16 KOs) defended his title on Friday night via a third round stoppage over former U.S. heavyweight Olympian Devin Vargas (18-3, 7 KOs) A winner of 14 of his last 15 fights, Bergman used his superior size and strength to dominate Vargas early in the contest. After Bergman floored Vargas with a straight left hand in the second round, Vargas never fully recovered in the fight. A 6’3, 250 pound southpaw, Bergman’s heavy shots and combinations forced Vargas to take a knee midway through the third round. Once Vargas beat the count, another onslaught by Bergman prompted referee Tim Wheeler to halt the contest. Promoted by MadeMen Promotions, the ten round main event was held at the Serbian American Cultural Center in Weirton, West Virginia.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
