Jeff Lacy pulls out of clash against Sullivan Barrera

Hot Cuban light heavyweight prospect Sullivan Barrera (11-0, 6 KOs) will now face off against Lee “The Silverback” Campbell aka Alpha Male (7-0, 3 KOs) of Larinburg, NC in an eight-round light heavyweight battle. Campbell, who upset Roberto Acevedo by eight-round majority decision in April, replaces former world champion Jeff Lacy who was originally scheduled to take on Barrera but pulled out due to managerial complications.

About the change of opponents the undefeated Barrera said, “I just want to fight. I am grateful that Campbell stepped in so I can keep this opportunity to fight on June 21. I am ready for whoever steps in the ring against me.”

Campbell, also undefeated, replied, “I thank God for the opportunity to fight Barrera. Secondly, I want to thank Main Events for their support. I pray that all fighters exit the ring without serious injury. I am confident in my coach and team that we will give the fans a great show. I look forward to future opportunities.”

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
