Former middleweight world champion Jermain Taylor has been arrested after alleged involvement in the shooting of a man identified as his cousin. The shooting took place at Taylor’s home in Maumelle, Arkansas. According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Taylor was charged with first degree domestic battering and aggravated assault and is currently being held without bond. Details are sketchy, but according to Arkansas Online, the cousin has been hospitalized in serious condition after being found at a nearby variety store.
Taylor is currently scheduled to challenge IBF middleweight champion Sam Soliman on October 8 at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi, but these developments seemingly put that fight in jeopardy.
