Welterweight contender Jesus Soto-Karass (26-8-3, 17 KOs) is ready for his upcoming bout on Saturday against Turkish hardman Selcuk “Mini-Tyson” Aydin (23-1, 17KOs). Soto Karass looks in top shape and ready, spending the last two months staying active in the gym working out at the Ponce de Leon Boxing Club in Montebello, California. “We have made a few adjustments in this camp working on different routines, more movement in the ring here and I am very comfortable with the adjustments we have made,” Soto-Karass told Fightnews.com.
Soto-Karass is coming off an eighth round TKO loss at the hands of Marcos Maidana back in September. In an action packed fight as they both exchanged throughout the fight. “It was great fight, a war against Maidana unfortunately I lost that fight but that is boxing. Time to move on and now I am ready to take on Selcuk Aydin.”
The veteran from Los Mochis, Sinaloa Mexico is always willing to mix it up in the ring despite having a strategy as he looks to rebound against the tough Selcuk Aydin. “What can I say? They call Aydin ‘Mini-Tyson’ for a reason. He likes to brawl and come forward like Tyson. This is a very difficult, tough fight, he is strong that is for sure,” Soto-Karass told us.
Aydin gave current WBC interim champion Robert Guerrero all he can handle as he proved to be a tough and awkward opponent losing a unanimous decision in his last fight for the interim WBC welterweight title. The Turkish fighter came up short in his first world title fight but his toughness to fight caught the eyes of some to match him up against Jesus Soto-Karass as both return to fight once again on Showtime and will deliver action as these two styles are meant for each other.
“I am not sure how much power he has or how hard he hits until I feel his punches,” concluded Soto-Karass. “We both have the two fists to brawl and give it all in the ring. However if I have to box then I will adjust. I plan on this fight to be a battle. My corner will give me a certain strategy but when I am in the ring sometimes things get heated and the plan goes out the window giving the fans there money’s worth. Expect a war from Jesus Soto-Karass!”
Soto-Karass vs. Aydin is a scheduled ten round welterweight fight part of the Lucas Matthysse vs. Mike Dallas Jr. undercard will take place Saturday on Showtime from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
