On Tuesday WBC world featherweight champion Johnny Gonzalez and his famous trainer Nacho Beristain arrived in Cancun. WBC featherweight champion in recess Elio “The Kid” Rojas is already in town, having arrived on Saturday with his trainers James McGirt and Terrence Blackmoore. Gonzalez stated that he would make it clear that he is the true world champion.
Two world title fights are on tap Saturday at the Arena in the Grand Oasis Hotel in Cancun. In addition to the battle of champions between Gonzalez and Rojas, IBF super featherweight champion Juan Carlos Salgado defends against Martin Honorio. Both are mandatory challengers.
