Jhonny Gonzalez Update

By Gabriel F. Cordero

Former two-division world champion Jhonny Gonzalez is in the final stage of his training at the Romanza Gym in Mexico City for his return bout against southpaw Nicaraguan Eusebio “Cascabel” Osejo on February 23 in Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Gonzalez is back in top shape and fully recovered from a nasty cut over his right eye five months ago in a technical decision loss against Daniel Ponce De Leon. “We are training hard, I’ve been in the Nevado de Toluca, so we can fight at sea level or at altitude,” said Gonzalez. “I want to show in the ring that I have the ability to get back the world championship. I want a rematch with Ponce De Leon as soon as possible.”

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
