Jimenez stops Acosta in Mexico!

In a battle of world ranked contenders, WBC Latin flyweight and National Champion Jesus “Destroyer” Jimenez of Guadalajara, Mexico lived up to his nickname and destroyed South America and National Champion Santiago “El Vendaval” Acosta of Buenos Aires, Argentina in a bout held last night at Humberto “Chiquita” Gonzalez Marbet Plus Hall in Ciudad Neza, Mexico. After three rounds of action, Jimenez currently ranked #3 WBC #5 WBA #6 WBO, came out aggressive in round four and hit Acosta with a perfect shot to the liver sending him to the canvas for the full count. With the win, the hard punching “Destroyer” upped his record to 26-5, 19 KOs and added the WBO Latin flyweight title to his resume. The Argentinean who had never tasted the canvas before in his career and was ranked #7 WBA, #9 WBO drops his record to 16-3-1-7 KO’s.

In the semi final bout, undefeated lightweight prospect Juan Carlos “Toluco” Castillo of Toluca, Mexico won a hard fought unanimous eight round decision over gamed Julio “Vaquero” Montoya of Hidalgo, Mexico in a bout held in the lightweight division. Castillo improved to 13-0-9 KO’s and Montoya drops to 5-2-2-3 KO’s.

Also local favorite Edgar “Power” Jimenez of Mexico City won by TKO in the second round over Ulises “Ratoncito” Lara in a bout schedule for 6 rounds in the jr. flyweight division. “Power” Jimenez improved to 4-1-1-3 KO’s.

The show is Presented by All Star Boxing, “The New Generation”, Tuto Zabala, Jr. in association with Producciones Deportivas of Ricardo Maldonado, Jr, Mr. Rafael Mendoza and Humberto “Chiquita” Gonzalez.

The main event will be televised next Friday July 3, 2009 at 11:35 PM by the Telemundo Network.
