After a retirement of two years and three months, José Miguel Cotto returned to the ring and showed that he still has what it takes to shine in this sport. Without confronting any big trouble, Cotto TKO’d Anthony Woods at 2:24 in the fourth round. “It feels great! After all of the support that I’ve received from everybody, it was good to be back in the ring. I feel stronger and motivated to keep on going,” assured Cotto after elevating his record to (29-1-1, 21 KOs).

“Jose look very good in his first comeback fight, we have good things coming for him,” said his brother and the event’s promoter Miguel Cotto. Jose M. Cotto will next step into the ring again as the main event on September 26 in his hometown of Caguas, Puerto Rico. The Boxeo Boricua Series is an event organized by Miguel Cotto Promotions and H2 Entertainment.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
