Joel Diaz stops Victor Sanchez in 5

Hard punching unbeaten prospect Joel Diaz (12-0, 11 KOs) of Palmdale, California went on the road and stopped Victor Sanchez (4-6-1, 1 KO) in Sanchez’ hometown of Houston, Texas. The bout was a featured eight round super featherweight attraction with Lou Savarese promoting. Sanchez’ record is very deceiving having fought and beaten unbeaten prospects. He even entered this bout coming off of his first round KO upset of Ramon Valdes (11-3) last month near Valdes’ Southern California hometown. This time Sanchez was fighting in front of his hometown fans who saw Diaz become the first to stop Sanchez inside the distance.

A very busy 2013 is being planned for Diaz by his promoter Boxing360. “I want to thank Lou Savarese for his professionalism and look forward to working with him again. I’m looking to have Joel fight two more times this month in addition to tonight’s fight. It is well known in boxing circles that Joel is talented, which is why I am keeping him busy and properly moving his career at the right pace,” said Boxing360 Founder Mario Yagobi.

The promoter first had Diaz scheduled to fight unbeaten Tyler Asselstine in a scheduled for TV ESPN 2 Friday Night Fights co-feature this past February, but Diaz unforturnately injured his hand a week before the fight forcing him to withdraw.

Next up for Diaz will be an eight round April 13th date at the Peck Center in Fernandina Beach, FL with an opponent to be announced. The bout will be shown live at and for those who want to see Diaz in action.
