Long reigning WBA featherweight super champion Chris John (47-0-2, 22 KOs) promised victory over his undefeated challenger Chonlantarn Piriyapinyo (44-0, 27 KOs) of Thailand in their showdown at Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore, November 9. “A knockout victory is something difficult to be planned, but I will make the first defeat in my opponent’s record,” said Chris John during the press conference at Aria Cafe, Jakarta, Indonesia, Sunday (10/21).
Another Indonesian boxing hero, the IBO featherweight champion Daud Cino Yordan (29-2, 23 KOs), who will defend his title against Manchester-based Mongolian, Choi Tseveenpurev (36-5, 24 KOs), also promises a big victory. “I will knock him out. Every round will be a knockout round for Choi,” stated Yordan. “For me, a champion is not the undefeated one, but the one who can ressurect after his losses,” replied Yordan when asked about the 2 losses in his career.
“Chonlantarn is a high quality opponent for John, and let him prove that he’s one of the world’s best at featherweight,” said Raja Sapta Oktohari, promoter from Dragon Fire Promotions who will stage this bout in Singapore, referring to John’s opponent, Chonlantarn Piriyapinyo, currently rated #7 by WBA and #1 by WBC.
