Johnson retires Gunn with 80-72 shutout

By Kurt Wolfheimer at ringside

Former world light heavyweight champion Glen “The Road Warrior” Johnson (53-18-2, 36 KOs) scored a one-sided eight round unanimous decision over 39-year-old Bobby “The Celtic Warrior” (21-6-1, 18 KOs) on Wednesday night at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The 44-year-old Johnson was aggressive and overwhelmed the 39-year-old Gunn, who was just looking to survive in the late rounds. Scores were 80-72 across the board.

After the fight, Gunn announced his retirement saying it was an honor to face Johnson in his last fight.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
