Hammer upsets Kingpin Johnson in tactical fight

WBO #7 rated heavyweight Christian Hammer (15-3, 10 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over former heavyweight title challenger Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson (29-4-1, 14 KOs) on Friday night at the Schnelsen Exhibition Hall in Hamburg, Germany. A betting underdog on his own turf, Hammer was simply more aggressive than than the quicker and more talented Johnson, who unfortunately delivered one of the safety-first performances he has been known for over his career. Scores were not announced. Update: Scores were 98-92, 98-92, 98-94.

Cruiserweight Nuri Seferi (34-6, 20 KOs) won a strange seventh round disqualification over former WBA champion Steve Herelius (21-5-1, 12 KOs). Herelius flipped out after suffering a cut over the right eye and was DQ’ed. Four straight losses for the ex-champ.

Cruiserweight Damir Beljo (14-0, 11 KOs) outpointed very tall Imantas Davidaitis (2-4, 2 KOs) over six.
