Former two-division world champion Jorge Linares (31-3, 20 KOs), who has been training in Tokyo with Teiken Boxing trainer Sendai Tanaka, will face Hector Velasquez (52-17-3, 35 KOs) on October 6 in Sacramento, California. There had been talks for Linares to go against three-time world champion Humberto “Zorrita” Soto but apparently the camps failed to reach an agreement on whether the bout would be at super lightweight or lightweight. Linares is coming off two consecutive knockout losses to Antonio DeMarco and Sergio “Yeyo” Thompson.
