Undefeated junior welterweight contender, 2012 U.S. Olympian, WBC Continental Americas Champion and social activist, Jose Ramirez, and Team Ramirez are taking time out from training camp to team up with County Supervisor Richard Valle for the annual “Operation Gobble” where they will give away hundreds of turkeys and food baskets for the town Ramirez was born and raised in as well as up tp 8 free tickets to families to attend his upcoming fight on December 2nd at The Save Mart Center in Fresno, Ca at no cost.

“Team Ramirez is proud and happy to give back to my home town,” said Ramirez.” Supervisor Valle has done a lot for my city and I hope we can make some families happy this Thanksgiving.”

In what has become an annual tradition for District 2, Supervisor Valle plans to give away turkeys to families throughout the district at events in Corcoran, Home Garden, Avenal, and Kettleman City.

“I want to extend my gratitude to Ramirez as well as the wonderful organizations that really came through for my constituents with their generous support this year,” said Supervisor Valle. “With their help, we were able to provide a healthy and happy Thanksgiving to many families in my district.”

Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum added, “Jose has always given back to his community. We are so proud of him.”

“From day one, Jose has always given back. It’s in his DNA. That’s why it has always been a priority for him and I am happy to be a part of it,” said promoter/agent Rick Mirigian.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
