40-year-old former WBC cruiserweight Juan Carlos Gomez (51-3, 38 KOs) plans to return to the ring as a cruiserweight on November 1. Gomez, who has been campaigning as a heavyweight for over ten years, stated “I had no more real motivation [at heavyweight]. I just boxed to make money, but now I have another goal in mind. I want to be world champion again – at cruiserweight.”
Gomez, who is training in Los Angeles, has definitely slimmed down. He will face Adnan Buharalija (29-18-2, 21 KOs) in a ten round bout in Dachau, Germany, that will be televised by Eurosport. “If I stay uninjured and healthy, I want to box on November 23 again,” added Gomez. “My goal is the WBC world championship. I’m going to get my belt back.”
In the main event on November 1, heavyweight Alexander Petkovic faces Chupaki Chipindi in a twelve round bout.
