Juan Manuel Marquez Update

By Gabriel F. Cordero

During his visit to Mexico City, WBO President Francisco Valcarcel mentioned that Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum is very interested in presenting Pacquiao-Marquez V in 2014. Marquez has repeated stated he’s finished with PAcquiao and has nothing left to prove. “We have to respect him his decision,” said Valcarcel, “but Top Rank will offer him good money for Marquez-Pacquiao V.” Some sources indicate Marquez pull in between $13-15 million depending on PPV revenue. As for rumors of a Marquez-Bradley rematch, there were talks, but no contract is signed or in process.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
