Juanma hits Texas

Former two time world champion, Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez (33-2, 30 KOs) arrived in Dallas, Texas, Monday afternoon for his bout against the World Boxing Organization (WBO) champion Miguel Angel “Mikey” Garcia this Saturday at the American Airlines Center in a Top Rank presentation to be broadcasted on HBO. Juanma’s Team includes training partner John Karl Sosa (7-0, 5 KOs), manager Orlando Piñero, trainers Alex Caraballo and Freddy Trinidad, and PR Best Boxing Promotions VP Peter Rivera.

On Tuesday Juanma Lopez and Mikey Garcia (31-0, 26 KOs) will conduct workouts open to the public at the AT&T Plaza in the south area of the American Airlines Center. Juanma Lopez will train at 2PM and Mikey Garcia at 2:30PM (Dallas Time).

Lopez, who is the #4 ranked by the WBO in the featherweight division, come off two KO wins in February and April, 2013, over Aldimar Silva Santos and Eugenio Lopez, respectively. Mikey Garcia come off a win over Orlando Salido to gain the WBO featherweight belt on January 19, when he sent Salido four times to the canvas. Garcia won by technical decision in nine rounds when he broke his nose after an accidental headbutt and couldn’t continue the fight.

Meanwhile, the undefeated Sosa will face Mexican Alexis Peña (7-2, 5 KOs) in one of the undercard fights this Saturday. Sosa-Peña is scheduled to six rounds in the junior welterweight division.
