Former WBO former world champion Juan Manuel Lopez could return to the ring before the end of 2012. He is currently suspended until March 2013 for comments he made about referee Roberto Ramirez Sr. following his second loss to Orlando Salido, however at a WBO function yesterday in Puerto Rico, it was learned that the WBO may reconsider the suspension. The Boxing Professional Commission of Puerto Rico has also been asked to perform a secondary review.

Juanma and fellow former WBO world champions Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon and Alex “El Nene” Sanchez were on hand as WBO female junior flyweight champion Yesica “La Tuti” Bopp received a diamond ring in honor for her seven title defenses.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
