Former two-division world champion Juan Manuel Lopez has had his suspension of one calendar year reduced to 10 months, a $10,000 fine eliminated, and a reduction of community service hours from 100 to 50 after the secretary of the Department of Recreation and Sports, Henry Neumann, assumed jurisdiction over the case. He will be able to return to the ring after March 2013. However, it was learned that Lopez’ attorney may appeal because they had requested a reconsideration by the Professional Boxing Commission which never materialized so we don’t rule out going to an Appellate Tribunal.
