Sabelo Jubatha makes the first defense of his South African feather weight title when he meets number one contender Marcel Japhta at the Nangoza Jebe Hall in Port Elizabeth on Friday night. Jubatha (10-1, 7 KOs) who fights out of the Enothole gym in Mdantsane, won the title on December 18 last year with a tenth round technical knockout over Luthando Vukuza.
He made his pro debut in April 2006 with a first round knockout win over Ali Tinise and then racked another six victories before the end of the year.
In January 2009 he was knocked out in the second round by Matima Molefe in the final of the Baby Champs competition in Pretoria.
However, he put this setback behind him and went on to score victories over Wonga Ntoyakhe (pts 6) and Themba Tshicila (tko 1) before winning the SA title against Vukuza.
Japhta the Gauteng featherweight champion from Westbury in Gauteng who won the 2007 Baby Champs competition has a reported record of 12 wins with 1 loss and 4 wins inside the distance.

On the same card Matima Molefe meets Siyabulela Ziqula in a clash for the vacant WBF featherweight belt.
Former SA featherweight champion Luthando Vukuza returns to action in a lightweight bout when he faces Lungisa Jikani over six rounds.
