Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. apologizes

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has commented on the post fight urine test which came back positive for marijuana (both A and B samples). Junior posted the message on his Twitter account Saturday.

To the public:

Any explanation or justification I try to give for the recent events will likely have little or no convincing, so I want to say to everyone that I fully assume responsibility for my actions, as well as the consequences of them.

I want to apologize to all who are disappointed or hurt by my behavior. Only I know the causes and it’s my responsibility to confront them. In contrast, I can say that I’ll emerge stronger from these events and I will put forth all my effort to vindicate my image in society.

What happened creates an environment conducive to making a stop along the road and thinking about the future. Today is born the new Julio Cesar Chavez beginning a new stage in my career that is reshaped. I’m preparing myself physically and mentally to achieve new goals, among which definitely in the short term is a rematch with Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the solidarity and support that I have received and also recognize all those people who have taken their time to send me messages of any kind.

    Help Support Fightnews.com®

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
