Rios, Diaz victorious in Indio

Unbeaten jr lightweight Ronny Rios (19-0, 9 KO’s) overcame a strong early effort by David Rodela (16-7-3, 7 KOs) to score a ninth round TKO on Saturday night at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. A barrage of unanswered punches prompted referee Jerry Cantu to wave it off at 1:14.

Two-time lightweight champion Julio “The Kidd” Diaz (39-7, 28 KOs) scored a fifth round KO over Henry Aurad (14-5-1, 11 KOs). Diaz dropped Aurad in round three and again in round five. Time was :54. Now fighting as a welterweight, it was Diaz’ first fight in over a year.
