Promoter Nick Garone and X-Cel Worldwide continue their mission to revive professional boxing in Western New York with another exciting card on June 19, at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. Garone brought back professional boxing to Downtown Buffalo in February that was well attended and very well received by the boxing starved fans. Coupled with the show X-Cel hosted in Niagara Falls in November 2008, this card will be the third boxing event in 8-months that Garone has brought to the area. “I feel like I’m rediscovering buried treasure out there”, said Garone. Buffalo has had a rich history of boxing for over a hundred years and Garone believes the area will once again be a hotbed. “I know Buffalo loves boxing, so we’re going to give them the world-class shows they deserve”, promises Garone. Scheduled to be on the card are X-Cel Worldwide’s newest contender, Meacher “Major Pain” Major (16-3-1, 14 KOs), Rochester, NY favorite and reigning NYS jr. welterweight title holder Kenny Abril (8-3-1, 5 KOs), former amateur star from Buffalo, Lionel Thompson (1-0, 1 KO) and the first area appearance of exciting Nick Casal (18-4-1, 14 KOs) of Niagara Falls.
