Kaddour returns 3/26 in NJ

By Rick Scharmberg

Former “Contender” bad boy Ahmad “Babyface” Kaddour (21-2-1, 9 KOs), born in Lebanon, raised in Denmark, and now residing in Trenton, New Jersey, will face Jerome “Boomer” Ellis (12-10-2, 10 KOs), of the Bahamas, and now residing in Coconut Creek, Florida in the eight round junior middleweight main event on Friday, March 26 at the elegant Hamilton Manor in Hamilton, New Jersey. The co-feature will be a ten round light heavyweight match featuring former four-time world title challenger Omar Sheika (28-9, 19 KOs), of Paterson, New Jersey taking on Dhafir “No Fear” Smith (22-19-6, 4 KOs), of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. The promoter is Nedal Promotions.

Promoter Nedal Abuhumoud, who is making a comeback of sorts himself after taking time off to tend to some business and personal matters, recently signed the colorful Kaddour to a promotional contract for the second time.

“Kaddour was 18-0 and then he left to fight on The Contender,” said Nedal. “He moved to Texas and got a little wild, but he is back now, and I know how to control him. The plan is to get him three or four fights that will get him ranked by the end of the year, and then go for a title shot.”

Omar Sheika has had four shots at a piece of the world title in his 13-year career. He came up short in challenges against Joe Calzaghe, Eric Lucas, Jeff Lacy, and Markus Beyer, but holds wins over former world champions Glen Johnson and Simon Brown.

Olympic medalist Terrance “The Heat” Cauthen (33-6, 9 KOs), of nearby Trenton, New Jersey will face Isam Khalil (15-1-2, 9 KOs), of Stockholm, Sweden in an eight round welterweight bout. Cauthen won a bronze medal representing the USA at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

There will be four additional bouts on the card.

Tickets are priced at $50, $80, and $125 (includes buffet-style dinner). For tickets, call 609-209-5642.

Doors open at 630pm with the first bout starting at 730pm.
