Kameda Brothers invade Miami

By Gabriel F. Cordero

WBO bantamweight world champion Tomoki Kameda and former WBA super flyweight champion Daiki Kameda (who gave up the belt last week due to weight issues) are now training at a gym in Miami called “Moro Jr & Kameda Promotion,” located in the suburb of Kendall. The third brother, former world champion Koki Kameda, is also expected to join the group. The Kamedas made history last year when they became the first trio of brothers to hold world titles at the same time. Ricardo Rizzo, representative of Kameda Team, informed that the Kamedas are working with Cuban trainer Osmiri Fernandez. WBA #14 welterweight Akinoti Watanabe is also part of the training group. The brothers can no longer trainer at the Kameda Gym in Osaka after that facility was suspended by the Japanese Boxing Commission.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
